REMission

I remember telling my doctor that I was doing a little better soon after my multiple sclerosis diagnosis. He smiled and shook his head.

"You are experiencing remission Quiyada." The doctor dismissed the eye contact and continued talking "Remission is a time when your body experiences a decline in symptoms." He grinned jokingly and pointed to the xray in his office. "You definitely still have multiple sclerosis because the scars are still there. I'm sorry.

I was heartbroken because there was seemingly no recovery in sight. Time passed and I experienced more lesions and falls that led to more depression.

One day when I returned from a doctor's appointment, the Holy Spirit spoke gently. Research the definitions of your diagnosis.

I looked at the two words that were attempting to steal my identity. Multiple and Sclerosis.

Multiple was simple to define. That means many. So whatever this sclerosis was... I had a lot of it.

I went to the dictionary to find out what sclerosis meant and Merriam Webster made it clear. According to them sclerosis is "pathological hardening of tissue especially from overgrowth of fibrous tissue or increase in interstitial tissue". But wait, there was a definition that wasn't referring to anything medical. It was also defined as, an inability or reluctance to adapt or compromise

Okay, so not only are there multiple areas in my body that have hardening of tissue or scarring but I need to also consider where and how I was I reluctant to adapt or compromise. My perspective about the disease shifted.

The Holy Spirit continued to speak... Research the root word - scar

I discovered again through Merriam Webster that a scar is "a mark remaining (as on the skin) after injured tissue has healed"

Now by this time I am snot-faced crying because I saw a ray of hope. But God wasn't done. "You are healed because I gave you REMISSION. The remission I gave you is not temporary but permanent. Go to my Word for proof."

This is when we have to learn to not just be spirit lead but lead by the truth of God's Word as well. I researched remission in the Master Physician's manual (The Bible). The promise of remission was there in plain sight, Matthew 26:28 says "For this is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins."

My technical mind replied with this, "But that is talking about sin, not this MS situation God."

Abba reminded me that remission is packed with benefits. Healing was addressed before the cross ever happened. In Isaiah 53:5 it reads... "He was wounded for our transgressions… and with his stripes we are healed.” I am standing on that with faith!

My journey is my own but I am willing to share my progress. This is not an invitation to my lifestyle. My doctor approved holistic approach to my care is my own. However, I am willing to disseminate my experiences here with you. Articles are coming soon to inspire and enlighten as I encounter the REMission experience.
