If Michelle Obama’s daddy could do it…

So Can I!!
I was surfing the web last night and came across an old Heart and Soul article. It can be found here: http://heartandsoul.com/heartandsoul/2008/08/multiple-sclerosis-michelle-ob-1.html It stated that Michelle Obama’s father was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in his early thirties. Fraser Robinson was a huge inspiration to his daughter and she accredits much of her strong spirit to her father. The first lady of this great country has not said much about her father’s diagnosis with multiple sclerosis. The article doesn’t go into detail about the diagnosis but it is a good read for those who want to know more about it. Being that it is a private health issue I really do not blame her. Let the woman live her busy and critically acclaimed life. If and when she feels like she wants to talk about it she will.
I can speak for myself… I know the struggle. Like many others who have been diagnosed with this unpredictable disease I am aware of the symptoms. I know how it makes you feel spiritually and physically. However, this may seem strange to some… but MS has done so much for me positively… I see the purpose in it. I know the girl I was before diagnosis and I am a better woman today because of it. I am not better because of the physical aspect but of how close it got me to God. I learned alot. There is a lot I need to say about scars. I have a story that I can share that just may help someone.
Of course I have days when my legs don’t want to listen to my brain. I have times when I am tired and exhausted beyond words. However… something is so strong in my life. The message of remission – both physically and spiritually… is embedded in my character now. I know the impact of my scars.. I know that even though I have scars I am still healed. In fact scars indicate healing.
So… if Fraser Robinson can raise such an incredible woman as Michelle Robinson Obama… I can continue to raise my daughters and be the rolemodel they need. I may not know what the future holds but I know who holds the future…
There are other celebrities affected by this disease –
Montel Williams,
the late great Richard Pryor
the late diva Lena Horne
the talented R&B singer Tamia
the late incredible Lola Folana
**Those women were the reason I comically said in the beginning that MS stood for MAD SEXY and MAD SEXY women redefine MS**
There are many many more that didn’t let this unpredictable and “incurable” disease stop them… why should I? Why should anyone be stopped by their scars? Let’s use them to impact the world! I plan to!

I’m Adopted into…

God’s family.
That is pretty exciting to say the least. Check this out:
Ephesians 1:5 (The Message)
How blessed is God! And what a blessing he is! He’s the Father of our Master, Jesus Christ, and takes us to the high places of blessing in him. Long before he laid down earth’s foundations, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love, to be made whole and holy by his love. Long, long ago he decided to adopt us into his family through Jesus Christ. (What pleasure he took in planning this!) He wanted us to enter into the celebration of his lavish gift-giving by the hand of his beloved Son.
It is a privledge to know that all the messed up things I did in my life and all the trials I have and will overcome fail in response to this true statement – God adopted me way before I knew who I was. When children are adopted they are usually given to a better family – a group of people that can really take care of them.
Think about it! We were in the family of Satan. We did what was good and best for our flesh – not caring about the spirit or having regards for who God is. God in his infinite mercy watched us grow into our lives and predestined us to be his children – not because we did anything good but because of his will and purpose. When a couple goes to adopt a child they do not know if the child will become a murderer, a rapist, or whatever… they just see something in that child that makes them want to take him/her home.
That is a joy to know that God saw something in us before he laid the foundation of the earth that made him say, “I am going to take him/her out that life and show them my love. It’s going to be a growing process but I want to be their Father.”
What a blessing. Today I admonish you to rejoice… if you are in the family of God… he didn’t have to do it but he saw something in you at the beginning of time. Faith will fulfill your purpose. Thank him for the adoption.
