AN IMPROPER INTRODUCTION: My next fictional novel

I have something to share with you… two scenarios.

First one…
Suppose I wanted you to know my husband. Many of my friends know my husband plays basketball. They know he takes good care of my kids. We got married early. I call them and say, “Girl, he ran my bathwater last night and fixed me dinner.” Knowing all that he does for me, do they actually know him? No, they don’t know him. All they know is what he does. They do not know his family, what he likes, how he reacts to certain things, and his character. All they know is what he does for ME.

Second one…
Two girls are friends. Their names are Sasha and Rene. Rene is having some financial difficulties and is in need of help. She calls Sasha and cries to her for some assistance. She can’t do anything for her. She tells her, “Girl, I know you need your loans paid and your credit fixed so I’ll introduce you to my friend Vivian.”

Rene says, “I don’t know Vivian. I’ve heard you say that she has a lot of money. You mention her sometimes. There is no way that girl is going to lend me all that money.”

Sasha keeps at it. “Don’t worry. She got you!”

Vivian has also heard of Rene but she has not had a conversation with her. Rene could get it if she got to know Vivian. Vivian has a great heart and helps all of her friends. Sasha told Rene to give Vivian six months and she’ll warm up to her.

She continued to tell her, “Just tell Viv how good she looks. Tell her she is doing a good job in her business. Nobody does it like her. Tell her things like that. She loves when people praise her. She might pay all your bills.”

Six months came and Rene had done all that Sasha said. She came to Vivian’s house once a week and told her how good she was doing in her business. She was doing everything as told. Yet she did not receive one dime from Vivian. Furious, she called Sasha and asked what went wrong. Sasha agreed to call Vivian and ask her what happened.

“Vivian, Rene said she asked you for a thousand dollars and you did not give it to her. I know you just cashed a trust fund for $65,000. Why did you tell her no?”  Vivian sighed. “I could have given her a million dollars but she only wants the money.”

“How do you know that?” Sasha asked knowing it was the truth.

“I can tell.” Vivian continued. “She would compliment me all the time but I knew she was only trying to get inside my head. I’m more than a money machine. I want true friends that want me for me. I told her that I gave my cousins some land and they are being beat up everyday over it. You know that bothers me. Family is important to me. When I told her that she just brushed it off and told me my hair looked good.”

Sasha got quiet.

“What’s wrong Sasha?”

“I was the one who told her to come to you. She came about six months ago and told me about her problem and I told her to ask you. I could not tell her to just come and ask you for the money. I told her to come and get to know you and probably in a year or less you’d give it to her.”

Vivian was hurt. “So basically you pimped me. You put me out there to be used. Now Rene is mad at me because she didn’t get the money. I’m not giving anything to anyone who only wants me for what I have.” She swallowed her hurt and continued, “And I don’t need friends that put me out there to be used.” She hung up and Sasha felt as guilty as she could and should.
